This is a *non* state-owned Chinese car and battery company with financial backing from Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway that's been growing at an amazing pace. They've mostly shifted their automotive segments towards electric vehicles and they're been growing at a massive pace, and this is part of it with them establishing themselves in a RHD country which likely means exports for such countries coming from there. It's also a large push towards what I think will be a continuing massive loss of market share of Japanese automakers in Southeast Asia to Chinese and South Korean automakers and a lot of this is because Japanese automakers acted much too slowly when it came to electrification and did not understand how well suited these vehicles in price and capability are for these lower end markets.

99yo investor Charlie Munger holds forth on BYD and Tesla.

Yes, he's 99yo. But if you read his profile on Wikipedia, he strikes me as an exceedingly smart man - the sort of person you might think would be the second in command to Warren Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway. And while many have succumbed to dementia well before this advanced age, Mr Munger still sounds pretty sharp.

Nice to see BYD moving production outside of China. It bypasses the Trump tariffs as well. If they do bring the Dolphin over here, it would give them a big competitive advantage over the upcoming EX30.

BYD has just bought land in Szeged, Hungary to lay the groundwork to build a factory in Europe as well.

The production line may have been halted for this photo, but there is not a person in sight there
