This was actually released late 2021, but now its lowest trim and smallest battery dropped as an offering and with a slight range and price increase.

I think this and other BYD vehicles built on this platform are likely to do well in the Southeast Asian mand possibly the European market as it's very competitively priced at 116,800 – 136,800 RMB (16,700 – 19,600 USD) in China with CLTC cycle range of 401 km for its top trim with the more powerful motor at 130 kW which is about 174 hp. That CLTC cycle is overly generous in that its highly oriented towards city driving, so its EPA range would probably work out to something more like 200 miles rather than 250 miles.
For some perspective, the current made-in-china
Toyota Corolla hatchback is at 168,805 RMB which makes the top trim Dolphin 20% cheaper at purchase price or around $4K cheaper USD. The two have virtually the same wheelbase and width and offer similar usable interior room, but the Dolphin is a full foot shorter which is useful for urban environments where parking may be harder to come by and offers a smaller "hitbox" for collisions. The Corolla has 169 hp which is close to the top trim BYD's 174 hp, but the Dolphin being an EV means that all that power is available from the start rather than at an optimal band. The Dolphin also has the ability to act as a portable battery bank if desired without any exhaust.
