Deciding today's "Did you know...?" to satx56, since I know he was at Disneyland earlier this week.

Did you know... Men with long hair used to be BANNED from Disneyland in the 1950's and 60's?

Why??
Spoiler
Disney wanted their park to look clean and wholesome (i.e. no hippies, beatniks, etc.)

The same with those whom they hired! No beards or facial hair...women could not have pierced ears and could wear very little (if any) make-up. My...... how things have changed!

Yes...I appreciate the guidelines they set forth initially...no offense. All jobs should have dress/appearance codes...this world is way to "whatever" now. We must not offend anyone you know!!!!! My thought is...if you want to work a specific job/place bad enough, you fulfill the requirement...just like getting a degree...TOO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT DISCRIMINATION!

LOL, he should have embraced it instead and opened Hippie Land. Think about it--a disney version of the hippie lifestyle would be hilarious. There'd be pop art everywhere (just as long as it's always colorful and cheerful). The Magic Carpet ride would be reconfigured to be a ride through a psychadelic trip, man. Chip and Dale would be groovy. The spinning tea cups would have a whole new meaning.

It is hard to imagine long hair on men being a problem, but I agree with Misty there should always be a standard in appearance. Today the standard is sometimes too relaxed. However, some men are very attractive with long hair. Interesting fact SCG

I didn't know it, that's interesting. I had fairly long hair for a long time when I was in my late teens/early twenties so I guess I would have been turned away if I went to Disneyland back then...lol.

Seriously wasn't referring to the long hair!! That can be pulled back...it's all the obviously other "freakish" things people do to get people's attention.
