Branching off from the other thread regarding what you miss, I thought I'd see what folks do still have from the "simpler times"

We have not one, but two drive-in theaters in town.

There is a local company that delivers milk, cheese and yogurt.

We still have locally owned pharmacies.

There's still a roller skating rink and the city has a few ice skating rinks in winter.

We have safe areas to go for walks.

I can still find here in town some of the "old" candy; Necco wafers, Blackjack chewing gum, Bottlecaps!

We still have one drive-in movie up in Northern NJ.

We have I think two roller-skating rinks left (maybe more in south jersey).

Ice cream truck (not the same as back then, but it's still ice cream..in a truck)

A few local pharmacies left.

Carvel

Lemon ice stand

Roy Rogers

Converse sneakers (Chuck Taylor's Allstar)

Highlights books for kids

Ice skating at a pond

My VCR

Does anyone still have a corded phone? Before the cordless phone we had a phone cord that was soooooooo long. We would knock stuff over as we walked around the house talking.

Oh, if you have ever been through a 10 day power outage you know that you have to have a corded phone! It is in the garage, but we have one.

My mother-in-law still has one...we have to take the 25ft. cord and wrap it up around the phone so that the kids or dog don't get tangled in it, eat it, yank on it, etc.

I forgot we still have ice cream trucks too.

Don't have a corded phone, gave that to mom in case of emergency and I depend on the cell if the phones go out.

Still have 1 corded phone. Also I still have my waterbed. I have refinished the whole set and I will NEVER part with it as long as I can a) still get out of it LOL b) find matresses IF it ever leaks. My son also has a waterbed.
Still have a manual typewritter, but don't use it. It isn't even electric, a hand me down. Just kept it as an antique.

I have an electric typewriter, that I still use, on occasion. I have a corded phone, but, it's put away the majority of the time. Use it when we have power outages. (mostly when we have those wonderful tropical storms and hurricanes that keep you without power for days on end.). I don't have a dishwasher, not because I can't, (in fact, our house was wired to have one, switch is by the sink), I just simply don't want one. I don't mind washing dishes. I like to look out of my kitchen window while I wash them, and watch the birds and sometimes squirrels, in the front yard. We're looking to move sometime in the future, and I've already told my husband that any house we buy has to have a window over the kitchen sink! I still bake my own cookies, (not the "break-apart and throw them on the cookie sheet" kind either). I like to use wood pencils. I still write actual letters on paper, though I also use e-mail.
