What ever happened to
so many things in life that simply disappeared and you can’t find them or buy them. Sometimes I know that they are replaced by upgraded newer improved issues but not always.

What ever happened to:

Aspergum
Bowling leagues
Big Boogie candy
Steering wheel knobs
Curb feelers on cars
Burma shave signs
Brace & Bit tool
Bazooka gum

Everything came in real glass bottles, creme rinse, Prell concentrate, Protien 21 (shampoo), candy cigarettes, frosted Rice Krispies, party lines, rotary dial phones, I remember.

I can't remember... What's today again?

1) A couple of girlfriends from the past I thought I was going to marry.. No, I was not involved with both of them at the same time....
2) Every flight I've taken since I was 7, and the kind of aircraft I flew on, and with 5 flights, spending time in the flight decks in the jump seat watching the Captain, First Officer do their work. Unlike newer airplanes, the Boeing 707 and the 727, had a 3-person flight crew, the Flight Engineer was the 3rd member of the crew in the flight deck.
3) The 33 and 1/3 vinyl records, and my Thorens turntable. I sold all of them about 5 or 6 years ago.
4) The IBM 370 mainframe computer I worked on when I started my career in Information Systems in 1986.
5) 8-Tracks, I had a player in one of the cars I had in the past, but no 8-track tapes. I didn't like them.
6) Old ATMs when they first came out in the late 1970s, we thought they were a great invention, even though the screen on them was only about an inch and a half in height, and about maybe 8 inches in width. You had to get your eyes very close to it so you could read what it told you.
7) Gasoline when it went up to .70 cents a gallon during the gas crisis of late 1973, it was around this time of the year. The long lines at gas stations, I wasn't driving back then, but we thought .70 cents a gallon was a rip-off.
8) Full service gas stations, attendants did all the work for you.
9) Up until early 1997 (before I moved back to Phoenix) Oregon was the only state that did not have self-service gas stations. I'm not sure if that's still the case.

My grandfather on my father's side passed away a few years before I was born, and on my mother's side when I was 5 (in 1962) he lived overseas.

I do remember my grandmother on my father's side made some really good appricot preserves or jam.

OK don't throw things at me but I remember when people had time to say hello or they genuinely cared about their fellow man.

I remember when people had manners and respect. I remember when kids came first instead of mommy and her feelings and her perfect body.
