Alright. My reward for not being able to sleep is the pole position.

Today's Question:
Tell us some of your *good* neighbor stories. Who has mowed a lawn, shoveled snow, shared garden produce or just been a friend?
Right after I got out of college there was a retired couple that lived next door to me. They would invite me over for Thanksgiving dinner. This was during my really broke days where pretty much every meal was centered around Ramen noodles or rice. It was always nice to have a real meal once in a while.

Bonus Question:
Take a look at today's picture (below). Has nature come too close for comfort at your house or apartment?
Whether it was just a bug or a stampeding herd of wooly mammoths - details, please . . .
One of the places I lived in while growing up was out in Western Alaska. During the summer there were lots and lots of brown bears wandering around the housing area at the airport. Almost every night I would see a bear wander by the house. One summer while there I had a job as a dishwasher at the local restaurant. It was about a half mile walk from work to home. Usually it was midnight and the bears were out. Often I would see a bear within a 100 feet of me while walking home.

Foodie Question:
What are your favorite flavors of tea?
Do you like tea: Not at all
Hot?
Iced?
Sweetened
Unsweetened?
With lemon?
Any foods you like to eat while drinking tea?
I have never aquired a taste for tea. It has a taste that just does not get along with me.

Just for fun:
If you could listen in on any conversation, who would you want to hear and why?
Several years ago an airline (not the one I work for) landed in Anchorage for fuel and to change out the crew before heading to Japan. It was schedule to be in Anchorage for a couple hours. While on the ground the passengers were offloaded into the terminal. An hour after it arrived the new crew showed up and told the handling company to offload the passenger bags. Once the bags were offloaded the crew advised the rest of the flight had been canceled. They then closed the door and departed without the passengers. Most of the passengers spent close to two days living in the terminal while tickets were bought to get them the rest of the way to Japan. I really would have loved to been a fly on the wall in the office of the airline while this was going on. To this day I have never found out the whole story.

Tell us some of your *good* neighbor stories. Who has mowed a lawn, shoveled snow, shared garden produce or just been a friend? My mom's neighbor - a surgeon - gave me excellent advice when I had to choose between two different surgeons recently. Indispensable.

Take a look at today's picture (below). Has nature come too close for comfort at your house or apartment? oh yeah - first to come to mind is the bat(s)!

What are your favorite flavors of tea? I prefer a basic English breakfast or Earl Grey kind of tea to teas with fruity flavors. For iced tea I prefer plain or mint (hot mint tea can be good too)
Do you like tea:
Hot? yes - usually black but sometimes with a tad of milk/cream
Iced? yep
Sweetened only with greasy southern bbq - and only a little
Unsweetened? yes
With lemon? no
Any foods you like to eat while drinking tea? With hot tea, something mildly sweet.

Today's Question:
Tell us some of your *good* neighbor stories. Who has mowed a lawn, shoveled snow, shared garden produce or just been a friend? He's not quite a neighbour as he lives a few streets away, but he used to be my tenant in the house I'm now living in. Even though I had to ask him to move because I wanted to retire to this house, he's been fantastic - he mows my lawn (I only let him do it if I paid him the going rate), he phones or calls around if I'm sick, and he keeps an eye on the place and collects my mail if I'm away. He's always happy to help out.

Bonus Question:
Take a look at today's picture (below). Has nature come too close for comfort at your house or apartment?

LOL, I just get possums partying on the roof and frogs croaking in the drainpipes. I guess it's possible a snake might have slithered across the garden (locals tell me they are around), but I've never seen one.

Foodie Question:
What are your favorite flavors of tea? Just normal black tea - nothing fancy, thanks. I prefer coffee.
Do you like tea:
Hot? Yes please
Iced? Ack, no thanks!
Sweetened Just a flat teaspoonful of sugar
Unsweetened?
With lemon? Not keen
Any foods you like to eat while drinking tea? I generally don't eat when having hot drinks. Just wine with my dinner.

Just for fun:
If you could listen in on any conversation, who would you want to hear and why? No one that I can think of at this minute.

Thanks bjh.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday.

We live in a small cul-de-sac of 8 homes. I have a good neighbour across the way, a very helpful old guy. My next door neighbours are a youngish couple with a small child. The husband is great, he and I chat, but only when his wife is'nt there. I think he is a little scared of her. She and I had a fall out a couple of years ago. She is similar to me in some ways, quick temper. She came banging on my door about some flowers (don't ask)!! I told her a few home truths, and sent her packing. She wrote me a letter of apology a few months after, but I'm done with her. It's funny, a while ago, I was working on my garden next to the public walkway. The three of them walked past with their dog. She turned away, the husband just smiled, the kid said "hiya" loudly!!!

One time a neigbor bought a new freezer for his basement.
We all pitched in and helped him move it down to his basement.

watching the neighbors home while on vacation.
Feeding the cat.

Dropping off baked good during Christmas time.

Nothing major just odds and ends.

Not sure depends on the situation.

More than likely I would laugh out loud and ruin my cover

Today's Question:

I moved into my house in November of 2009. In December, the area received snow -- LOTS of it. By the time the storm passed, there was upwards of 20" of snow on the ground, much more than normal for this area.

The next morning, as I stood on my front deck surveying my 1/4 mile long driveway and wondering how the heck I was going to get out, I heard a low rumbling. A few minutes later I saw my as-yet-unintroduced neighbor, perched atop a tractor with snow blade attached, making his way towards the house, clearing the way.

I was extremely grateful!

Yikes!!!

That same winter, a number of visitors stopped by the "Front Porch Diner" (bird feeders set up on my deck ), including raccoons and possums, but that's it for furry critters. Many years ago, the house was invaded by seemingly-endless swarms of ladybugs and I thought we'd never be rid of them. It was awful -- ugh.

Foodie Question:
What are your favorite flavors of tea? Just plain old tea (decaf, please)
Do you like tea:
Hot?
Iced? This!
Sweetened
Unsweetened? Usually unsweetened, although I'll occasionally toss in a spoonful of "Sugar in the Raw"
With lemon?
Any foods you like to eat while drinking tea?

Good luck buying ANYthing in Manhattan for that amount NOW!

Thanks for the questions -- have a great day, all!

Today's Question:
Tell us some of your *good* neighbor stories. Who has mowed a lawn, shoveled snow, shared garden produce or just been a friend? Right after we moved in this house, I had my out building set up in the back yard. Ran out of space fairly quick and set our two old Schwinn 3 speed bikes at the back of the building. Couple mornings later, my next door neighbor, who I had only waved to but never met, flagged me down to tell me he and the neighbor on the other side of him saw some men trying to steal those bikes around 3 AM. They yelled at them and the bikes were saved! Men got away though.
My neighbor is a jokester. He's an older black man that always has a thought about something. When he told me his last name, he said "My name is Mason. Guess you've heard of my brother, Perry?" lol

Bonus Question:
Take a look at today's picture (below). Has nature come too close for comfort at your house or apartment?

Possums were getting under the house. We walked around the house screaming and making noise at all the vents in the foundation and watched 3 run out. Closed up all the openings.
When I was still married to my ex, there was a possum going up on the porch and eating the cat's food. I finally got him cornered and worked out a deal with him. If he would let me beat him in the head repeatedly with a baseball bat, I'd let him decompose in my compost pile. I enjoyed my part. Don't think he did though.

Foodie Question:
What are your favorite flavors of tea?
Do you like tea:
Hot?
Iced? Yup
Sweetened
Unsweetened? I sweeten it with Splenda
With lemon? When we eat out
Any foods you like to eat while drinking tea? Anything I can chew up and swallow. lol

Just for fun:
If you could listen in on any conversation, who would you want to hear and why? Think I'll pass on that one.

Today's Question:
Tell us some of your *good* neighbor stories. Who has mowed a lawn, shoveled snow, shared garden produce or just been a friend? When I was a teenager my Grandparents lived in a apartment that had several "older" people that lived the complex as well. I remember getting together with my Grandma and a group of her friends and playing cards. Uno, I think. We would talk turns going to a different person's apartment where they would "host" - serve snacks. We really had a good time. They didn't treat me as SO much younger and really I didn't see them as a different age than me. We treated each other as friends as it should be.

Bonus Question:
Take a look at today's picture (below). Has nature come too close for comfort at your house or apartment?
Whether it was just a bug or a stampeding herd of wooly mammoths - details, please . . . Nothing at home

Foodie Question:
What are your favorite flavors of tea? NO flavored tea. Just regular.
Do you like tea: YES
Hot? NO
Iced? YES
Sweetened? NO
Unsweetened? YES, ONLY
With lemon? NO
Any foods you like to eat while drinking tea? Anything

Just for fun:
If you could listen in on any conversation, who would you want to hear and why? Can't think of anything right now.
