Monday greetings, kids! Scroll on down for Today's Tip!

RECYCLE GRASS CLIPPINGS

When you mow your lawn, there's a neat way to recycle the grass clippings. Rake
them up or collect them in a bag attached to your mower. Then place them around
the base of plants in your garden and around shrubs and rose bushes.

Grass clippings make an excellent mulch which will not only help retain moisture in
the ground around your plants but will also keep the earth a little cooler on hot,
sunny days. Your plants' roots will appreciate this! An added bonus is that as the
grass decomposes it adds nutrients to the soil which will help your plants grow
even better.

No go and mow!

When I had my weekend getaway in Northern MN, w/15 acres, I used to have compost bins scattered around the property, to help improve the soil, with grass, leaves, and kitchen waste.

It really bothers me to see grass and kitchen waste just go to waste in a landfill, especially here in Las Vegas where the soil is all but soil-less.

You're talking about yard clipping right Pam,,,,, not just "any" grass? I've heard of some people that hide their grass in different places but never in the garden area. Good tip however........ I can't grow anything garden in these rocks yet.

Great tip Pam. Good cheap way to get mulch round our poor trees that are so thirsty this time of year!
