SAVE SOME DOUGH!
Here are a couple of simple and easy money-saving Tips from AARP's web site:
1. You can save money by paying with cash. Some gas stations and other retailers give customers discounts if they pay with cash. Also, studies show that many people spend significantly more on fast food and other purchases when they pay with a credit card or debit card.
2. Keep an open money jar in a conspicuous place in your home. Whenever you resist the impulse to run out and buy something you don't need, feed the jar with the amount of money you would have spent. Also, when you do something at home that you might have paid for, such as ironing, fixing a fancy latte, or whatever, put the amount you would have spent in the jar. You'll likely save up a tidy sum very quickly with this method!

I wouldn't keep it in a clear container, it would be too tempting to reach in and grab some to go--ooh look! A jar full of money!! Stash it in an old coffee can with a lid that you can't see through.
I was gonna go out and borrow some money... So, I'm staying home and.. I'm gonna put the money I would have borrowed in the jar. Pam.. have you got a couple thousand bucks I can borrow? Really I gotta pay the kitty! Thanks for the tips!
I'm more in favor of having several jars all tagged: Restaurant, Travel, Concerts, Movies, Lindt Chocolates, etc., and feed each one proportionately. It's like when I put money in the bank, I'm more reluctant to spend it, even if it all goes into one jar!
This world-renowned procrastinator just had new tires put on my car (Sheesh! It's been 10 years!) and I took along an extra $400 for brake work (Sheesh! Again, it's been 9-10 years!) and I was told my brakes are only 50% worn (I don't drive that much!) and given I've procrastinated for too long on buying a new tower for my computer, that savings ain't gonna go into any jar! To Best Buy I go!
And one of these days, when that jar labeled: High Tech Here I Come, gets filled up, I'm going to hire someone to teach me how to use that user-friendly camera I bought months ago, and while they're here, I'll probably steal some money from my Restaurant jar, and pay that person to teach me how to upload a photo onto the Internet! Ooohwee! We're 12 years into the new century, it's about time!
Believe me, I've used the jar trick many times over the years. Pocket change does add up especially when you refuse to use change and keep breaking bills to pay for things.
Great tips, Pam. Maybe if I put a jar out someone will toss in a few bucks
