Think about it. I'm sure all of us here were born before 2000. We were all born in the end of the second millennium and lived into the third one! A millennium is a period of one thousand years! What are the odds of being born in the late portion of one period of a thousand years and living into the next period?

It's awesome!

I was born in 1992, the 992nd year of the second millennium. We are currently in the year 2012, the twelfth year of the third millennium; this means we have 988 years remaining of the third millennium.

Second Millennium

Third Millennium

It's cool to think of living in the year 1012 and pondering what life would be like in 2012. What will life be like in 3012?

No.

To me it's just random numbers; this dating system is arbitrary and just one of many different dating systems.

For example, in the Hebrew calender ... used in Israel and by Jews worldwide, I was born in the year 5714 and this is the year 5772.

On the other hand, according to the Buddhist calender ... used in Buddhist countries such as Thailand and Buddhists worldwide, I was born in the year 2497 and this is the year 2555. You were born in 2535 and this is 2555.

Big deal.

Who cares?

Oh, heck, yes! As a kid I was so jazzed at the thought of crossing into the new millennium when I was "older". Thing is, so far I've NOT been impressed at all. The millennium has been off to a dreadful start, as far as I'm concerned.

But, y'know, if George Burns had managed to hang in there just a couple of years longer, he'd have crossed over into his 2nd century!
