A year ago my cholesterol came back 268. In 5 months I lowered it to 190 by 1) dietary changes 2) getting back on the treadmill every other day 3) taking plant sterols (found naturally in some foods and can be purchased from health food stores or online.)
Thanks for the tip Pam! Unfortunately I have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I take medicine for both. I've been trying to lose more weight lately. In the past few months I've made dietary changes and I've dropped a few pounds so I think I'm doing okay. I've never been more than 20 pounds overweight but I'm still trying to keep my weight as close to my normal weight as possible. It's not easy because I love all that cholesterol laden food, and sweets too!...lol.
I was on cholesterol meds once but I had so many side effects I had to stop taking them. I was in great shape back in 06 until I picked up this damn superbug. I can't exercise as being hot and sweaty makes it go haywire. I've been on and off heavy duty antibiotics for years now and I'm sure I have some damage from them. I can't risk taking cholesterol meds as well now. I could never be anorexic nor bulimic. I hope I go like my father-in -law. Here one minute gone the next. I do miss my bike. I used to ride 14 miles a couple of times a week and used my stationary in the winter 30 min. 4 to 5 times a week. I really need to take up swimming.
Great tip Pammy! So far, no worries with mine. I hope it stays that way <fingers crossed>.
