Default Outlandish ideas!

Rhythmic Gymnastics are pretty- all the hoops, ribbon, balls, etc... I have ideas for a twist on this idea! How about Laundry Mat Gymnastics??! You know those carts that hold your clothes? Fill them full of clothes and do a routine around the machines and tables! HA

I also think that hanger tossing could be a event by itself. Have a bar that you toss the hangers on. You would sit on the floor and toss them up and see what sticks! It is doable! HAAAA (Yes, I have accomplished this! Can I have a gold medal?

What was it with the yellow shoes across all of the events? Did you notice it? I see at least on of them was a Nike. Maybe they started it!

I included this one just for fun. It isn't very good but I like it. South Korea rallied to come from behind but didn't make it. No matter. It is about giving it your all really and I think they did!

Now, for the best of the best. The one player that hardly gets a mention but I think it's worthy of having his picture in the incomplete coverage of the Olympics! See for yourself...
Spoiler

Hard to tell but the ball was in the air, over the water. Please give him a round of applause! High in the air, good form! Well, except for the bottom half, but hey that was technical difficulty!

Opps here is the real gold medal winner! Pretty and higher vault! HAAAAAA

Thanks for letting me share my silly photos. Are you going to watch the closing Ceremony?

Well years ago, my friend had a shopping cart in his basement apartment, we used to have races. Not Olympic material huh? It was fun though, just silly, sober, good times as a kid.

Now everyone will want yellow shoes. well probably some will.

Fun Todd! Yeah, I think I need to find one of those yellow shoes! LoL

I loved the closing ceremony. So beautiful and so many stars. I kept thinking if this was Hollywood stars, how disappointed I'd be. Maybe I just don't know the stars and their history but I felt they were more dignified then the stars the USA has?

What do you think?

I thought it was just a terrific Olympics!! I think we did a really good job overall. I know some of the opening and closing ceremony events didn't make sense to foreigners, but, after all, it was our olympics!! I loved the bit with Del Boy and Rodney jumping out of their three wheel car dressed as Batman and Robin. Most anybody outside Britain wouldn't have known who they were!!

I watched some events that fascinated me, like a two hour swimming race in the river Serpentine. How people raced for two hours in a river astonished me. The whole thing was just great. The BBC covered every event live. Just pressing the red button on the remote control gave entry to any sport you wished to watch.
Well done the Beeb!!

All in all, a great two weeks, and the best gold medal haul by us British for 100 years. To come third behind the USA and China was just great. Well done everyone!!

Dave, you are right! It was fantastic! I loved the closing (missed the opening) ceremony. I did not know all of the things behind the characters and events but that didn't matter. It was bright, beautiful and downright classy.

Dave, two questions. First, the celebrities. They truly were first class, as far as I could tell. What I was trying to say up above, was... I don't think the USA would have been so classic. I admit I didn't see the opening ceremonies in LA (1984) or Atlanta (1996- thanks Google! ). Anyway, I am really impressed with your celebrities and how they were presented. Do you (or anyone?) agree?

Second, I didn't have my TV set up, missed the Opening Ceremony- WAIT! I just googled. it. So, no your Queen did not jump out of the Helicopter and parachute down. Snap! LoL Can't believe I thought she did.

It was all wonderful!

Hi Wildflower. I agree with you, the opening and closing ceremonies were really interesting. The opening got criticised by some Americans on another part of C-D. It was very complex, and parts of it hard for foreigners to follow. The part about the NHS didn't go down well with some people in the US. I saw a few entries saying "what has socialist medicine got to do with the olympics?" They just didn't get how beloved the NHS is here, and was a major breakthrough in healthcare for the British just after the Second World War. It is a big part of our recent history. We were celebrating British history in the ceremony - this is part of it!!

I think the whole olympics was a marvelous example of how we can put on a show here. We do it with royal events like weddings, so this shindig wasn't hard to do. I'm very proud of the whole event. Following the Chinese was never going to be easy. Plus costs had to be kept down as much as possible in these hard times of course.

Thanks Dave for your input. I didn't go to the sports section, didn't want ALL the politics of it. I appreciate your thoughts, it gives me a "bigger picture" of the event.
