Howdy do y’all
Let’s get this weekend rockin’ and a rollin’

Today's Questions:

What’s the most fun job you’ve ever had and why was it so fun?
Camp counselor for a Boy Scout camp up in Wisconsin. I was in charge of the watercraft activities. Mornings I taught Sailing merit badge while my two minions taught Canoeing and Rowing. Afternoons was "free time" for the kids so I sunned on the dock and kept watch to make sure my charges weren't drowning or ramming their boats into each other. Evenings was "free time" for the staff. The Boy Scouts owned roughly 40% of the shoreline around the lake so there was very little other boat traffic --so I basically got to lord over my own lake for the summer. Late-night beach campfires with other staffers, sometimes supplemented by adult refreshments, and sometimes joined by the girls who vacationed on the other side of the lake -- that was the life for a 20-year-old. I'd do it every summer if I could. Maybe I should become a teacher with summers off so that I can get paid to play in the Wisconsin Northwoods all summer...

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and what (or who) made it the worst?
Telemarketing; self-explanatory. I didn't last 3 weeks there.

If you’re still working, do you enjoy what you’re doing now? Why or why not?
Not really, for two reasons... 1: because management simply does not listen to the input being given to them from the people in the trenches (even when they try to listen they often completely miss the point of what we're telling them), and 2: our performance metrics often hold us accountable for circumstances that are absolutely beyond our control to do anything about.

Bonus Questions:
Once again a big thanks to the man behind the curtain

You've heard of "Three Strikes and You're Out", which applies when many of us give or have given second chances to other people or businesses.

How many strikes do you usually allow others before you stop associating with them?
Depends on the nature and severity of the infraction(s)

Have you ever given anyone more chances than you usually do or more than they deserved? If so, what made that instance different?
Yes, my mom -- because she's the only one I have. If there were substitutes, she probably would have been out of my life long ago.

Have you ever been given any second chances you felt you didn't deserve and if so why?
GF and I broke up in college. The breakup was inevitable anyway, but I did some jerky things that hastened the breakup. A few weeks later we patched things up and she took me back when she probably shouldn't have. That's OK, she returned the favor when she up and walked out after 7 years of marriage and 12 years total as a couple without so much as an explanation -- which she still hasn't provided to this day. It's just as well because I believe we're both considerably better off for it.... but we probably should have stayed split up the first time.
