Good tip, Pam. I freeze bread and defrost a couple of slices at a time.
On the rare occasions when I buy a loaf of bread, that's what I do, too. It takes me way too long to go through a loaf, and freezing does not compromise the flavor or texture of bread.

We have to refrigerate the bread here because the air is so dry it goes bad in just a day or two. I double plastic bag the bread and place it in the refrig it stays for a long time, however it's best for us to do as CB ,,, freeze the bread and take slices out as needed. It only takes a minute in the microwave to pull the chile or thaw it.
Thanks for the tip pammy! I usually keep the bread in the freezer in it's original package. I just get one or two and use my toaster oven to toast it. It tastes funny. But yours sounds like a better idea!
I haven't bought bread in a long time! I make wraps for lunch so that kind of did away with the bread. I should buy some again, but instead buy rye bread and make a delicious Ruben!
