I came across this website called "Sometimes Interesting" and it takes you to places and things long forgotten or unknown like and old, abandoned hospital on an island of NY or the fact there are about 200 dead bodies on Mt. Everest. The photos are very good quality and it gives you a tidbit of info under each, just click on it if you want to read more about it. Enjoy, I did find it interesting.
One of the older posts contained information about the Cahokia Indian mounds in Illinois. I've been there several times and these mounds are impressive. There are Indian mounds in various places in central Illinois although not as huge as the Cahokia mounds.

We have Indian Mounds here across the street in a public park and kids used to sled on them and they finally had to stop it after years and years because they were wearing the mounds down.
When you click on 'read more' in one of the stories on the site you will see even more pictures about it and all are very good. Make sure to click on the older post when you scroll to the bottom because there is a lot of stuff in there.
