Morning y’all
A big shout out to motormaker for today’s DJK
. . . . . Didja Know?
While trying to figure out how to replace the town mayor who had resigned, officials
in Sisterville, West Virginia discovered their roughly 175 year old town charter still allows
only men to vote

Evidently it’s extremely expensive to alter the charter text and town officials feel since the
19th Amendment prohibits denying citizens the right to vote based on their gender there’s
no need to spend thousands of dollars in legal fees to make the change.

Sisterville.. so does that mean women can vote in Brotherville, Cousinville, Uncleville, and other Villes?

Considering what women can do these days, including in townships like Sisterville, the United States is still much better off than other countries in the Middle East, who are still living in the stone age..

I didn't know it, Joy and motormaker. Another worthless blue law. But I think they're correct - no need for a tiny town to spend the money to change a law which is overridden by federal law anyway.
