Making it possibly the oldest correction in the history of journalism, the editorial board
of The Patriot-News (f/k/a The Patriot & Union) in Pennsylvania retracted a 150 year old
editorial that panned President Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg address as “silly remarks”
Showing that it’s never too late to say I’m sorry, the newspaper said:
"In the editorial about President Abraham Lincoln's speech delivered Nov. 19, 1863,
in Gettysburg, the Patriot & Union failed to recognize its momentous importance,
timeless eloquence, and lasting significance. The Patriot-News regrets the error."
