Thanks for the great tip, PJ! Never thought of using bread or even duct/duck tape! So hate when that happens... it always seems to go everywhere, especially in places you'd never think to look and usually don't find until way later!

Tape doesn't stick to ducks.

for those who don't always have white bread handy, a wet paper towel works almost as well.

BREAK A GLASS?

If you break a glass or ceramic item in your kitchen, it's difficult to pick
up all the shards without getting at least one stuck in your hand. Ouch!

An easy way to pick up the tiniest of shards is to use a slice of soft white
bread. Yep. First, carefully pick up the larger pieces of glass and then
press a slice of bread onto the remaining small shards. The bread will
grab up those little bits and you can then toss the whole slice into the
trash. Easy peasy!

That is a great tip Pam, thanks! Someone as clumsy as me needs all the help they can get.

So, on the this Friday morning the Bay area is fogged in, the rest of the U.S. is frozen and UK is flooding. Time for a cup of tea and warm blanket. Enjoy the weekend!

It really is a great method for picking up shards. Even vacuuming doesn't usually get all of them. The tiniest shards are nearly invisible and may stick to the surface of the floor, making it difficult for a vacuum to get them up. But the bread works every time and leaves no sticky residue like tape does.

My Mom always used a damp cotton ball to pick up the small pieces.
