Why not? In fact, when patients send requests on Facebook, health providers are counseled to point them to LinkedIn instead. It's a professional relationship, and that is what LinkedIn is about.

I don't use any of those sites, and I'm embarrassed to say I don't really understand what you mean by "connecting with" your dentist. What would you need to say to your dentist outside of an appointment in the office?
