Mornin' all!

Time to take a break for a moment or two and have a little fun with Wednesday's Questions...

Today's Question(s):

Every Wednesday, I post a quote by somone whose birthday is that day. Do you have a favorite quote? If so, would you tell us what it is, and who said it?

Bonus Question(s):
I have an old statue of a male ballet dancer that, back in its day, was a lamp, and probably had a female counterpart at one time. Have you ever seen one of these, or do you have one? If you do, is it still a lamp? Or has it been altered?

Just For Fun:

Which, if any, of the following "dinosaurs" do you still own? And do you still use them?
8-track tape player?
VCR?
wringer washing machine?
clothesline?
rotary phone?
What else might you have that is old, but still loved and used?

Today in History:

Arts/Entertainment: 1973 Ringo releases "Ringo" album
Birthday: 1934 Carl Sagan, US Scientist (d. Dec 20, 1996)
Sports: 1988 MLB All-Star team beat Japan 8-2 in Nishinomya, (Game 4 of 7)
Science: 1939 Nobel for physics awarded to Ernest Lawrence for the cyclotron

Today’s Word:
symphysis
Pronunciation: (SIM-fi-sis)
Meaning: noun: A growing together.
Etymology: From Latin, from Greek symphysis (growing together), from syn- (with) + phyein (to grow).
Earliest documented use: 1578.

Today is:

Chaos Never Dies Day
Cook Something Bold & Pungent Day
National Scrapple Day
World Freedom Day

Quote of the Day:
"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." ~ Carl Sagan ~

Thanx! And have a good day everyone!

Most any of Mark Twain's (Samuel Clemens), here are two:
"
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the tradewinds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
and
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness."

"Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." -- George Santanaya

No, but I've seen some interesting lamps from the 1950s that are in weird shapes and have shades that are drizzled with metallic paint.

Just For Fun:

Which, if any, of the following "dinosaurs" do you still own? And do you still use them?
8-track tape player? Used to have one in my '69 VW Beetle, but it got stolen (the player, not the car).
VCR?
Still have one. wringer washing machine?
No, but my mother-in-law did. She wouldn't use anything else.
clothesline?
No, I live in the city.
rotary phone?
Got rid of it years ago.
What else might you have that is old, but still loved and used?

My mother's battered old aluminum cookie sheets
My mother's hand crank egg beater
My stepdad's meat fork with what looks like a carved handle made from an animal's horn
My mother's and mother-in-law's recipes.
My mother's 1940s silverware.
My great-grandmother's turkey platter and silverplate mixing spoons.

Thanks, PatsCats!

It's nearly 2:30 am here and I am tired. Before I turn out the lights, I will answer the QOTD.

Today's Question(s):

Every Wednesday, I post a quote by someone whose birthday is that day. Do you have a favorite quote? If so, would you tell us what it is, and who said it? It's too late to try and remember a quote from someone so here's my own: "May God bless our new President with the gargantuan tasks that we have elected him to work on."

Bonus Question(s):
I have an old statue of a male ballet dancer that, back in its day, was a lamp, and probably had a female counterpart at one time. Have you ever seen one of these, or do you have one? If you do, is it still a lamp? Or has it been altered? I have no statues.

wringer washing machine? No.
clothesline? No.
rotary phone? No.
What else might you have that is old, but still loved and used? The night is late and the list is too long.

Good night all.

This particular buffalo had an on screen performance in the movie Dances with Wolves. I don't think he ever got over it. He used to take pictures with the tourists. Let the little kids ride him. We called him..., Kevin.
