Adventure with Grandma

I remember my first Christmas adventure with Grandma. I was just a kid. I remember tearing across town on my bike to visit Her on the day my big sister dropped the bomb: "There is no Santa Claus, she jeered. "Even dummies know that!" Moderator cut: Provide a link instead of copying everything here, please

===============================

He who has no Christmas in his heart will never find Christmas under
a tree.

I still believe in Santa! http://webpages.charter.net/connectingzone/holiday/2.gif (broken link)

Grammy.....This is the first thing I have read this morning. Thanks for starting my Sunday morning with a smile. I always tell my 12 year old that every time we donate food and toys at christmas, someone for sure believes in santa and so do we. Merry Christmas

Default I believe, too..

Of course Virginia - There is a Santa Claus!

I have told my children, when they began to question - when you stop believing, you stop receiving! It is as simple as that. While I have told them in their older years that no man in a red suit comes down a chimney - it is the spirit of Christmas and the warmth in the hearts of others that make miracles happen.

People change this time of year - usually for the better. There are the ones who fight in line for a gift they have to have, get angry at parking, etc. - but I believe people turn for the better this time of year. It is only through the Spirit of the season that the change comes.

I can remember - to this day - waking up when I was small, and swearing I had seen an elf spying on me in my bedroom! A dream? Of course, but it made things so real.

Mom was always up before me, and we would sit at the tree and wait for dad to get up (sometimes a difficult task, as he was never in the Christmas spirit). She made me Hot Chocolate in my Santa mug, and we would eat cookies for breakfast - the only day of the year nutrition was thrown out the window.

I feel so sorry for the kids today who only know the commercialism. They are missing so much. It is about putting smiles on other's faces that matters, and putting yourself in a position of service, eager to help and to love.

Santa is alive and well - and I still anxiously await Christmas morning - kids or not!

A little conversation I had with my son recently. We were driving to a local store when we noticed a line of people camped out at the local Best Buy (probably 100 or more).

Me...What's going on with these people?
Son..There waiting for Playstation 3.
Me...Is that the hot new game?
Son..Yes.
Me...Do you want one of those games?
Son..(giving me the odd look because he's not a kid anymore) Yea, if you got somebody that can get one!
Me..Do you believe in Santa Claus?
Son..(giving me the look again) No, I don't believe in Santa Claus!
Me...Then I guess your not getting one.
Son..."JERK"
We had a good laugh about it but it reminded me about when my kids stopped believing. I guess we were a little sad as parents about it especially those years when you kind of knew they didn't believe but weren't ready to admit it.

That is one of the best stories ever. My problem is with the schools, they tell our children at an early age that their isn't a Santa, and I tell mine she can believe for as long as she wants.
It is to bad more people don't still do that yet today. Thank you for a great story,it made my day.
