I like taking a ferry and having my car transported too. Easy to get around. Once I took just my bicycle It was fun too.
As to yachts and sailboats? I grow up around them and belong to a Yacht Club, learned to sail, got license.
Rowing was a part of sports offered in HS and my Uni.
Despise cruise ships, but have been traveling by cargo ships and loved it!

paddled a kayak?…No, but did raft for whitewater rafting. Never again, we hit a rough patch and went flying out that thing. Even wearing a helmet that my teeth are still attached to my head is a downright miracle cause there were a lot of rocks.

been on a catamaran?……Yes. Lived on one for 7 days during our vacation expedition to the Galápagos Islands with 12 other people, plus staff and guide.
Without fail it seemed each time I got in the shower we hit a patch rough seas and would bounce around the shower stall until I could get a grip on the safety handle and wait soaking wet and full of soap for smooth seas again. Not sure why no one has thought of putting benches with seatbelts not only in the shower stall but on the toilet too. And combing your hair? Most of us were walking around with bedheads or looking like Albert Einstein because of the swaying when looking at the mirror. 2 or 3 people spent most of the trip pretty sick.
All that said, the catamaran had a cozy bar area and a great bartender. Really good food too./

***Yes, Staten Island ferry, the one in Washington State going to Vancouver if memory serves, and one going from Greece to Italy which was a beautiful ride.

went on a freight ship in Greece. It was a cheap way to get from Athens to Crete. We had to stay on the top deck in the sun all the way. Quite fun except for the sunburn.

On my latest adventure, I was in south Louisiana, and there are ferries there. This was just a few years ago. I would love to go back to that area - in fact, I may do just that! The ferry was interesting and I would definitely ride it again. I thought it was beautiful and very relaxing.
