On a resent trip back home last time I was at my mother-in-law’s I found that she had lots of old slides that no one had seen for years and years. My wife’s father took most of them and over the years they just got shoved to the back of a dark closet. I was able to get all of them boxed and brought that back home after leaving on that trip.
Over the past several weeks I’ve managed to get thru about a 1/3 of them and managed to copy them over to a digital format so they could be viewed on the pc. Now that Mom is visiting for the holidays and also her 90th birthday in January, I will have these all put together for viewing. I think I can show these on the new HD tv set as well and making it much easier for everyone to view and enjoy. I just need to plug in the laptop and change one of the tv settings to get this to work.
Everyone enjoyed seeing some of the old slides being viewed on the bigscreen tv after I was able to get them scanned and converted to digital a format with the new unit that I got a month or so ago. I'm still working at the process of hundreds or thousands of slides that my father-in-law had taken before he died years ago and getting them scanned for digital. It's like finding a diamond in the rough. Here's one of my favorites that he took of my daughter who was visiting him years ago.
He's dog at the time was on the right side watching for something or someone.
Location: Finally made it to Florida and lovin' every minute!

Oh, that's special, Aks. The "big" present that Santa brought DH this year was a scanner to transfer his slides to digital format. He has some really great ones from way back when he was a sailor and from his pre-me days. Now, he won't have to throw them away and will be able to enjoy them. I know your MIL will just love her gift.
My Mother-in-law will be leaving tomorrow and flying back home. She was able to visit over the holidays for several weeks and I enjoyed having her here with us. She also celebrated her 90th birthday on Jan 2nd. We had a surprise party for her with some of the family who also live in our area and several of our friends who knew her from the past years of visiting. Sadly she has to return, but I enjoyed her while she was here and she also had a wonderful time getting away from the cold snowy midwest as well as spending time with Mrs Aks.
Good morning-today at noon this less than 5yr old GE possessed refrig will be leaving our home and a new Ms Whirlpool will be taking up residence. The GE would shoot ice cubes across the room at me-saleslady told us yesterday they stopped carrying all GE as quality is garbage.
Nothing terrific has really happened....but I've just been at peace and happy this week.
Can't ask for anymore than that!
