PERRANPORTH, England, April 4 (UPI) -- An 87-year-old woman in England had to be rescued by police when her mobility scooter sped out of control.

The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday Eileen Bishop and her husband Anthony were on their way to church when she suddenly zipped away from him on her scooter, which is essentially a motorized wheelchair.

My wife never ran away on her's but I almost ran into a truck with it. The steering tiller locks and folds so it can be put in the trunk. I assembled it and didn't unlock the tiller. Jumped on to take to her, waiting in the store. When you can't turn at 5 MPH parked trucks come on you fast.
