I know this question is super late considering the super bowl was 3 months ago but I was reminded of it just recently. I was having a conversation with coworkers about the singer who "sang" the national anthem at the super bowl. When I found she didn't sing it live I had a real negative reaction to that. It seemed phony. My coworkers surprised me by all expressing support for her doing lip syncing saying acoustics are bad in outdoor stadiums and it was better sounding this way.
It seems to me like the national anthem should be sung live and that professional singers are paid to sing in all sorts of conditions, but maybe I'm a tiny minority in this?
