What do you consider man's greatest invention and why?

My personal two are duct tape because you can use it for anything and Pop Tarts- first fast food.

It would be a toss up between easy to open beer caps and two ply toilette paper.

Imagine back when the auto was developed or something as simple as the light bulb. We have become so developed to the point where I think we take alot for granted.
Shame on us

I would say electrical power generation and transmission technologies (mostly pioneered by George Westinghouse and Thomas Edison). Inventing a way to deliver high voltage allternating current (a/c) electricity to households and buildings over long distances completely altered and modernized the entire world. Without these inventions we wouldn't have all the modern electrical appliances, indoor lighting, computers, air conditioning, or many of the other conveniences we all enjoy today.
