IS 2012 the end of the world as we know it?

The History and Discovery channels are showing more and more end of days programs. I have seen more Nostradamus end of the world prediction shows, Myan 2012 calendar shows. The world with out people. The list goes on. My questions are.

1. Are they preparing us for something?

2. Do you believe in these predictions?

3. What do you think is going to happen?

4. How many of you are preparing?

Nostradamus, as it's spelled, didn't predict the end of the world in 2012.

FYI the History and Discovery Channel need shows to keep/draw viewers. I've seen a bunch of these shows you're talking about too....and I've found them to be intriguing. However, I'm not saying 2012 is or isn't going to be the end of the world or whatever but I take everything I see on TV no matter what channel it is on with a grain of salt

The Mayan Long Count Calendar was thousands of years old. When they were living, they saw no point in going beyond Dec 21, 2012, since even that date was far in the future. It would be like a fly, with a lifespan of a few days, worrying about next year.

The shows make interesting talk show fodder, but I still think you should be planning to buy your sweetie something nice for Christmas 2012.

There are problems, many on the visible horizon, and lacking preparation for them is nobody's fault but our own.

PROPHECY, n. The art and practice of selling one's credibility for future delivery.

I enjoyed the program that studied the impact of humans being suddenly removed from the planet.

I don't think there's any foreshadowing going on, I simply think they need to reach further and further in the bag to keep audiences tuned in. And tuned out of the reality of what's happening to our country.

I put no stock in those prophesies. People have been yelling for hundreds of years that the world is coming to an end on this date or that date. Horsepucky, I say.

Well the only thing I'm predicting will happen is that I'll turn 25... and the world will continue on as it has for millions of years.
