Did you know... in New York, it is against the law for children to pick up or collect cigarette and cigar butts?

My son pays his daughter 10 cents a butt to pick them up from his yard!!!

I knew a kid that started smoking in elementary school by picking up the butts and getting the last puff out of them. He always had a pocket full. He cherished finding one that was a little on the long side. By the time we got to high school his health was so bad I don't think he ever finished. So I think it is a good law.
