I'm watching the parade and all the music is Christmas music. So, I try to think of well known Thanksgiving music and the only thing I could think of was Over The River And Through The Woods To Grandmother's House We Go.

How odd. Thanksgiving is very popular and quite secular. It seems like there should be some harvest festival music. Not that I'm qualified to write any, myself.

There are religious traditional Thanksgiving hymns, of course, like We Gather Together and We Plow the Fields and Scatter. They will always stick in my head, as most songs from childhood do. I know that's not what you are thinking of. It does seem as if there should be more harvest-time music.

But, since you brought her up, the author of "A Boy's Thanksgiving Song" aka "Over the River and Through the Woods" is one of my favorite American heroines. Not for writing a cute little ditty in a book of children's poems that became a popular song, but for writing anti-slavery literature and novels in the decades before the Civil War. Her name was Lydia Maria Child.

100% agreed.

It should be left alone from anything to do with any religion.

Whenever I think of Thanksgiving music, I can't help but think of Gilda-THIS skit specifically. When you watch the video, I'm sure you can see why.
