I have several friends who work for CPS. Your story, quite frankly, doesn't add up.

NO AGENCY can remove a child or forcibly remove a parent from a home for giving their child a bath. NONE.

1997 Maryland. A time and place where all fathers were assumed to be pedophiles, especially in rural counties.

I think it's Jaycee Dugard, although the Duggar family does like J names.

eh i live in md and my mother was a social worker so i can tell you that isn't true. They only remove if they believe the child is being abused...a bath doesn't qualify.

it happened to a friend of mine and I can tell you it did occur. D/C reported it as possible abuse, zero tolerance kicked in and dad was at a motel until the investigation was over.

If this is the case your friend should sue the county.

I understand where you are coming from and the basis of your opinion. And I do agree it was way wrong. But justice and legal interpretation, like politics, are local. Look at San Francisco vs., say, Grasshopper Valley, Tenn. (birthplace of the snake handlers)

Should he have sued the county? Probably. But, trust me - you didn't want to PO the locals and the police and the courts and the ... It wasn't Philadelphia, Mississippi in 1964, but it wasn't real accepting of outsiders either.

No, we lived in an semi-affluent part of the county that was populated by transplants and the D/C was mostly local kids and all local employees. It was a backwater county that did not like outsiders at all.

Eh still regardless if they don't like you or not they follow state guidelines and are not going to remove a child for several months because her father gave her a bath, your friend isn't telling you the whole store.
