First, I want to ask that you please don't take offense to this. There are two things that I want to note here, and maybe you can shed some light on the for me:
I can't STAND it when pregnant women "cradle" their stomach like so....
I mean, WHY do they do this??? Are they afraid that If they don't cradle the stomach, the baby may fall off???
The second thing that I hate, is when pregnant women say " WE'RE pregnant" as if the man or husband is also. Why do they do this?
I personaly, just find both of these two things very annoying.
#1) it's her baby in there. What's wrong with cradling it?
#2) I don't like that either, but have encountered very few people who actually say that, and it's usually men.

Said cradling is usually accompanies by a smirk that could best be translated as .... look what *I* did. LOL
1. When your previously flat belly is now shaped like a basketball, sometimes you rest your arms above it, under it, whatever is confortable. I even sometimes set my drink on mine, LOL. Regardless, things have changed physically, and you now have new places to rest your arms.
2. Because the woman didn't make the baby herself. Nor is the baby solely hers once it comes out. (Unless daddy is a deadbeat, or she's a single Mom by choice of course.) Usually, getting pregnant is a joint effort.
1. Don't care. Maybe it's comforting - over to you girls.
2. Don't care. Each to their own, but when she is pushing it out, you can be darn sure that it's not 'we'
1. She now has a big awkward appendage on the front of herself and is doing whatever feels comfortable. Often her belly will be heavy and cumbersome near the end of her pregnancy, and she may be doing that to help ease her back. The skin there is taut and itchy too, so ... whatever's comfortable.
2. I think it's silly but a far cry from something I can't stand.
As an expectant mother I felt compelled to answer this:
1) I cradle not because I am protecting my child, I cradle because I want the little one to settle its bloody bum down while I am talking on the phone, eating a bbq burger and in general wonder why the flip does it feel the need to kick when I want to relax. It doesn't do any good but hey I can only hope through cradling it will calm down.
2) I am not one of those who say We are pregnant. I am pregnant and going through the motions of swollen cankles, horrible morning sickness and terrible heartburn. What Mr. X says when confronted by co-workers and friends is "I AM GLAD I AM NOT PREGNANT! MRS. X IS TURNING INTO ROSEMARY FROM ROSEMARYS BABY."
