Usually because the parents send the kids in when they are sick, which they should not do as it just spreads the illness to other kids.

Note a minor cold may be fine to go to school with, but kids are supposed to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school or daycare.

Maybe... but not in these cases that I personally know!

::sigh::

Why do a few of you refuse to believe that some kids just don't get sick???

That's what Jessica Ridgeway's mom did, too. Not that it would likely have helped.

Nevertheless, I would not recommend doing so.

Agreed! My daughter once worked at a day care center. She used to just mentally roll her eyes when parents would say something like, "He had a little fever last night, but I think he's going to be fine". She knew they'd likely be calling the parents to come and get the child before the day was over.

Because I have worked in daycare, preschools and other schools. There may be a few kids who never get sick, but it is very rare. Usually, kids get sick in the first and second years of school (or in preschool) more than later on, but it is still very rare to find a child who never has a fever or illness at all.

Because everyone gets sick. Even the poster who started this part of the conversation said his kid would get a fever that only lasted a day. Kids are supposed to be kept home from school for 24 hours after the fever is gone. That's That's 2 missed school days right there.
