My mom worked night shifts so she was asleep with the phones unplugged while my brother and I were in school. I had perfect attendance most of my school years. I remember once I got a bloody nose that wouldn't stop bleeding in middle school. Eventually after about an hour of calling they got a hold of a neighbor who picked me up and I stayed with her. Besides that, I had perfect attendance all through elementary middle and high school. I may have been sick a few times, but I dont remember cause I always went to school.

Agreed! My daughter once worked at a day care center. She used to just mentally roll her eyes when parents would say something like, "He had a little fever last night, but I think he's going to be fine". She knew they'd likely be calling the parents to come and get the child before the day was over.

Why do a few of you refuse to believe that some kids just don't get sick???
Because I have worked in daycare, preschools and other schools. There may be a few kids who never get sick, but it is very rare. Usually, kids get sick in the first and second years of school (or in preschool) more than later on, but it is still very rare to find a child who never has a fever or illness at all.
Maybe... but not in these cases that I personally know!

Because everyone gets sick. Even the poster who started this part of the conversation said his kid would get a fever that only lasted a day. Kids are supposed to be kept home from school for 24 hours after the fever is gone. That's That's 2 missed school days right there.
