I've been posting on CD for a while now and never really waded into this end of the pool until yesterday. Interesting place, that's for sure...

My philosophy is sharing parenting ideas and styles, chat about trails and tribulations, and provide support.

I like new perspectives, it makes me re-think my own ideas.

I was just curious to chat by other parents but I have to admit I have been really put-off by wannabe child-psychologists? I mean come on... that "good job" thread??? Yes, I said "good job" with a clap to my son who took a **** on the potty in public today. Apparently my entire parenting philosophy and his future political affiliations are already known, LOL.

I enjoy reading about how others approach various parenting dilemmas. It gives me food for thought, and a different perspective. I most enjoy reading perspectives from parents of older children who have been there, done that, and hear what has worked for them, and what they would have done differently.

I have changed so much about how I parent based on reading parenting boards like this one. Parenting ideas that at one time I would never have considered doing have become important parts of my life (ie cosleeping, extended breastfeeding). Other topics that I had never even known were controversial got me to think about certain ideas in a new way (ie circumcision). Yet other threads have given me ideas on how to concretely implement an abstract idea that I support (ie gentle discipline). Coming to boards like this to discuss parenting has really opened my eyes to new ideas that I have used in my own life. I am happy to continue to learn new things, and to share with others as well.

I'm a new mom and am trying to learn. I'm going to try my best not to fall into the third option camp as time goes on. I do that already (selectively) in relationships forum.
