I was looking for the stats about the percentage of parents who wouldn't do it if they had to do it over.
I mean, it's not for everyone and yet the vast majority of people reproduce.
I suspect that would be very few. I don't think I've ever met anyone who has said they wouldn't do it over. If anything it seems more people regret not having more children or never having one, although I think most people who never have kids only go through a short time of regretting that but move on and become just fine again with that decision.
I will say that having kids was both the worst thing that ever happened to me and the best thing that ever happened to me.
The worst in that it's hard as hell, my time is not always my own, my decisions are not always my own, etc. It forces you to be less selfish, and you are always always "on."
The best in that I have felt love I could never have imagined, and my kids are fascinating, funny people who have taught me a ton and who I enjoy being around.
When my first was born, yes, I did. That was postnatal depression though, and not an overall reflection of parenthood itself. Now, with a healthy mind, absolutely not.
I do think some parents do (with a clear mind, regret having children), but you won't get many (or any) actually admitting it. One of the ultimate taboos.
Not yet.....LOL.
And hopefully I never do, I hope to never turn into a person that would regret my kids.
Sure there are selfish "moments" where I wished it was all about my wants for a few minutes, but those pass and I get and give more snuggles and kisses.
