At what age do you think boys should stop hugging each other?

I know in kindergarten, children are taught to hug each other, especially during apologies.

But at what age does this need to be redirected?

Why should they stop hugging? My husband still gives his friends a quick hug to greet or say bye. I actually see it a lot.

Yeah, I don't see a lot of 10 year old boys hugging each other.

That's all.

Homophobia much? Once children become more aware of personal space I'm sure they will stop hugging other children when it's not neccesary or welcome if they develop relationships with friends or family where hugging is welcome it will continue with those people.

Question for YOU--when should little girls stop hugging?

my male frineds hug eachother on greeting/saying goodbye...
theres nothing wrong with guys hugging.

little boys often go through that "hugging is weird" phase all on their own from about 8 through much of highschool, but theres no reason to otherwise discourgage hugging.

Oh, I knew the homophobia card would be played.

Of course, I must be homophobic.

There is a societal difference between girls hugging and boys hugging. Like it or not.

I found that sports took the "hugging is weird" (which seemed to also have something to do with cooties) right out of them. Hugs, fist bumps, chest bumps, slaps on the rear... One day they won't touch each other. The next day they're holding hands in the huddle because that's what (insert favorite players here) do.
