I take photos with my digital camera, print them out on my color photo printer and mail them off. Then they have a physical photo they can hold and look at, put on their fridge or in a photo album.
I send a few scattered emails every now and then when they are good, and the bulk of them are put on CD every 6 months for them to take in and print what they want. My parents live very very far away so it is the most practical solution.
Buy a file sharing site, make it private and upload. Like dropbox, photobucket etc. Or open an account at your favorite place that prints pictures and upload there, your parents can download or print from there. Such as wolf camera etc.
