Wow, that's fantastic!
I have one of those sons too; he's now 27, has saved quite a bit of money over the last 5-6 years and is putting himself through school while struggling to visit his baby who lives 1200kms away with his mom! He doesn't have a house, but going to University is so expensive that he can't do both!
I come from a European country where many kids go to University thanks to the patents' sacrifice and many usually get a house with mommy 7 daddy's money, or some of it anyway, so it's really nice to see that there are youngsters who do it with their own earnings! Congrats!
I wonder if my son would be able to buy a condo with his savings and still go to school, afterall he is paying 500 dollars of rent per month!?

Even though his dad wanted him to stay at home until he finished college, I (mom) could tell it was time. He had been looking and would text me properties. All good. He has a good job and has 1 year to go in college but will continue part time.

He closed in November, 2013 and has been fixing it up himself as much as possible and getting some help from contractors. I think he's close to getting most it done.

We have told him he can take whatever he wants. Just today, he told me he is taking his mattress but not the bed (ugh). Oh well.

What do you take when moving from your parents' home? Ever single thing you had in your room?
I'd like to turn the room into a type of "guest room" so down the road, I'll be looking for ideas.

Our daughter lives out of state but still has tons in her room. In fact, she brings one set of clothes when she comes home b/c all the rest are here (home). High school, college stuff, etc - all still with us.
When I first moved out I left pretty much everything but my clothes. My boyfriend had the majority of everything we needed.
Now when we moved 1100 miles away then I really cleaned out. Pretty much took all my stuff, except my old bed and my dresser. Took my tv, tv stand, nightstand, lamps, my mini fridge, my curtains and curtain rods, all my pillows, took my hammock.

When DB and I first moved out of the apartment the bed he was using wasn't his and we were going to take mine from home but got lucky and got a King sized mattress from his parents, they bought a new one and gave us theirs that wasn't even two years old. It is a king and we still have it, mine at home was only a double or maybe a queen but DB is over 6ft and 200lbs, plus we have two dogs one of which is a 10 month old puppy that is as tall as I am on his back legs and weighs like 80lbs, it's nice having the extra space.

Oh I forgot, when I was a live in nanny I literally took everything with me and cleaned my room out completely, furniture and everything, I moved it back in when I quit that job and left it there because I didn't need it anymore but I did take it originally with the intention of it always staying with me.
