GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The 13th son of a Michigan couple now has a name.
Forty-year-old Jay Schwandt told The Associated Press in a text message that the couple decided Friday morning to name their newborn Francisco Matthew Schwandt.
Sorry John, I agree with nana. Usually I enjoy reading the articles that you post but this one was sort of boring. I read the title and assumed that they challenged some court decision, perhaps one that prohibited them from naming their 13th son, Princess Female Girl or some blatantly feminine name.
My cousins had 16 children and as far as I know never had an issue naming any of them so I guess I don't understand why the dilemma and an article in the news.

My husband's family had quite a few generations of large families...his mother was one of 13...his father had 11 siblings.
His mother was one of the few girls in her sibling group...the doctor that delivered her name her as her parents had thought of girl names and told him to go ahead. (This was the mid 1930s)
Another family story on his dad's side concerns a great-aunt....she was simply 'baby girl g***' on her birth certificate and called 'sister' by the family...she named herself when she started school and was asked her name. (This would have been around the turn of the last century.)
So yeah....issues happened...they just didn't make the news back then.
