How about the name McKenna. If you are like me, you thought it was a "modern" name. Yet, yesterday, I met a lady at church with that name. She was at least mid to late eighties. Almost fell off my chair when she introduced herself.
Why? It's a common practice in many areas to name a daughter after her mother's maiden name..which this sounds like it could be.
That is why I always shake my head at people complaining about what kids "these days" are called.
There have always been those that didn't get the bog standard name....didn't kill anyone tben...won't hurt anyone now.

My daughter has a schoolmate named Tierney. My husband said the same thing.

I was thinking of this thread early today while watching the news. One of the reporter's name was Roche, pronounced Rocky. The report was probably in his 50s. I'm sure if some of these posters knew a toddler with this name, they'd be going on about the unique spelling that kids these days are given.
My neighbor was telling me about her two-year-old granddaughter "Onnie". I wasn't sure what she was saying, so I asked her what the baby's name is. It's Honesty. The baby was named by the birth mother, then she was eventually fostered and legally adopted by my neighbor's daughter.
I'm baby-boomer era & had classmates named JV (entire name) & Moite (pronounced MOY-dee). Some things never change (like trying to give your kid a "unique" name)...they just get recycled...
