Chesterton, IN (AHN) - Trying to duplicate a scene from the movie, "A Christmas Story," two fourth-grade boys ended up with their tongues stuck to a frozen flagpole.

According to reports, Gavin Dempsey and James Alexander were on flag duty at Jackson Elementary School Friday morning, when the pair decided to test whether their tongues really would really stick to the freezing metal as what they've seen in the movie.

LMAO After we saw A Christmas Story in the mid 80s, we were playing truth or dare. I was dared to stick my tongue on the metal shelf in the freezer. Being 10, you up can't pass up a dare or you'll forever be known as the chicken, lol. I don't think I could taste anything for a few months after that.

Lived in Alaska. Every year we would be warned about this and every year some kids would still try. Not the worst thing that can happen and a good lesson. The story made me laugh.

The boys were trying to see if what they saw in A Christmas Story really worked. It's poignant that this happened in Chesterton because A Christmas Story takes place just a little bit to the west in Hammond, Indiana.
