Parents may not want to hear it, but it's just a fact: Lots of teenagers are having sex.
About a quarter of 15-year-old girls and boys, almost 40 percent of 16-year-olds and about half of 17-year-olds say they've had sex. But what if parents of the girl find out? And they're furious? In many cases, they can use the law to punish the boy.
Thankfully my son's what he calls a "geek" and is not out trolling for that at this point (16). While I think I can understand what a girls parents would think I truely don't know what I'd do if faced with this and I don't think anyone who's not been there can really say for sure since when it comes to your baby logic tends to fly out the window.
I truly feel it depends on the age and age difference. If my daughter was having sex at the age of 16 with a 21 year old, you bet your a$$ I'd be calling the police. Now if she was 16 involved with a 17 year old it is a different story.
i think most parents who would call the police because their daughter is having sex[not counting huge age difference] are the same parents who always say "my kids would NEVER do so and so"

Would you call the police if it were your 16 year old son having sex with a 21 year old woman? Just curious-not looking to start any kind of forum drama .

An interesting question to which the answer is most fathers probably wouldn't but I bet most mothers would. There is a definate double standard when it comes to these things, just look at the latest teacher/student incidents. Female teachers got off with way,way less than any man ever would and I'll bet aren't run out of the neighborhood or treated like a pariah like a man would be either.
Is it right? No, but it is what it is...

Please, my husband would probably be patting them on the back. Oh, I'm so proud

That's what I was thinking my father would have done with my brother too. My husband and I were talking about this after we watched the Dateline or 20/20 show that this aired on. I'll put the disclaimer out there that what I'm about to say in no way means that I'll be encouraging my daughter to do so (or my son if I have one-I don't really want to raise a "baby daddy" either), but we found it interesting that it is a right of passage for boys at that age, but girls are apparently incapable of having those urges or of making the decision to become sexually active. Society always says how much more mature girls are than boys, but when it comes to sex, that can't possibly be able to make that decision for themselves, and if they are having sex at 16 it is because they are being victimized and not because they are a willing participant. Being smack dab in the middle-about 16 years past being a 16 year old myself and 16 years from having a 16 year old daughter, I don't know if I would call the police. It would depend on a lot of other factors beyond just her having sex.
