At what age do you allow your kids to swear in front of you, if you swear?

My oldest are 22 and they don't cuss in front of me. It's not like they've been waiting for the opportunity or anything.

I don't swear and I expect my kids not to swear in front of me, either. But I have to say it makes little sense for parents to use words they won't let their kids use. Imitating you is how they learned to talk, remember?

My 12 year old already swears in front of me. She's kind of unstoppable and it's very funny. She knows how to behave in front of people and has good manners when it's important, but at home she makes her true opinions of everything known.

My stepkids are in their 20s and my son is a teenager. I don't curse in front of them and I don't expect them to curse in front of me.

One exception: my sd cut school and took off for two days when she was 18. I dropped more f bombs once she came home than I ever had in my life. Because she wasn't used to the language from me, it really had an impact.

I don't think swearing is an age thing.

It's an occasion-appropriate thing and best if used very sparingly.

So then you think it's okay if a three year old curses?

"Never" what?

I asked a specific question and one of the answers could not be "never."

At no age is it ok for my child to curse around me. And cursing at me, I’d make their head spin.
