My parents let me stay up when I was 7 and even let me drink champagne, did the same with my own, it’s when they become teenagers and want to go out is when the problems start if they are on the road with the drunks.
b-b-b-but that means I have to stay up til midnight also!!
lol. We haven't done anything yet, nor made any big deal about it with the kids...for the older one this will be his 4th NYE. I'm pretty sure my wife has been long passed out by midnight, it's possible I was still awake for a few of them.

We've always let our kid stay up until midnight even when they were little. If they feel asleep before then, we would put them in bed. For us, we have all kinds of snacks, turn the tv on and maybe do a movie or puzzle. We go to bed after the ball drops.n New York is in a different timezone so we may actually go to bed at 11 pm some years as long as we have seen the ball drop.
As far as alcohol goes, last year was the first time we allowed our teenagers to have alcohol at midnight. It is legal for children to drink at home in our state under parental supervision. I don't like the taste of wine and beer and they know that. We had a bottle of wine and we all had one glass for a toast. My husband and I are not big drinkers.
New Year's Eve was always a family fun night once our kids were about 6 and 9. Each of us choose a favorite appetizer type food so we had several appetizers for dinner throughout the night. We let the kids have kiddie cocktails (sprite and grenadine syrup) and played family board games or Xbox karaoke until midnight. The we all watched the ball drop on TV. Of course they stayed up! Sometimes I bought those little firecracker pop-it things and we threw them off the deck. Great family memories from NYE.
* From what age is it acceptable to let your kid stay up?
* Do you put them to bed at the stroke of midnight, or do you let them enjoy the actual *new* year?
* How do you occupy them?
* Does it make a difference if you have one child or multiple?
* If no, do you attend community events like New Year's Noon? (with simulated NYE activities held at noon)

Not sure when we'll let our 5.5 year old stay up. He has mad issues with hyperactive behavior so every hour staying up is more work and less enjoyment for us. Also, I am not sure what age I stayed up as a kid but I was probably at least 7-8.
We tried a Noon Years Even event at the local library but my son was bored. So no more of that and at 8pm, off to bed he goes!
