Charity choices: My parents set up the charity but constantly tell me about and constantly ask me for money for it--since nobody else will give. They also made me an officer of their charity. They're the ones who constantly talk about it.
SORRY, NOT A LEGIT CHARITY. To be a legit charity, according to the IRS, it needs to have multiple donors. If no one else is giving, you have a problem. Your parents making you an officer is bad. This could backfired and you could get yourself in some hot water.
BTW, my daughter is a grant administrator who investigates charities.
Your parents are sociopaths. Between using your FSA and this charity, they really don't care if how much legal trouble you get into.
OP--so you have lots of miles to purchase tickets. More than you could possibly use yourself. So...you book First Class to use up the points, instead of a "sale" price ticket. So you expect to be "reimbursed" somehow for the miles used.
Stop the silliness. Donate the miles to a Children's Charity.
Nightmare! Abort, abort! Disengage immediately. Cancel PSA card, erect boundaries, do not make any more ticket arrangements or participate in any manner of exchanges with them that involve money.
Just want to point out that first class doesn’t have to be expensive, a common misconception. Get a credit card, build up points by buying groceries and paying bills etc, use points to upgrade or purchase tickets. Chase fare sales, I’ve seen first class tickets round trip from Fort Lauderdale to Boston as low as $400

The points you use to upgrade your air ticket, though, are points you could have got back in cash. It definitely is costing you something.
Your parents are running a sham charity. Fraud gets people in serious financial & legal trouble every day. Fines & jail time. When the IRS sh*t hits the fan YOU will also get hit. Send them a certified letter telling them to remove you as an officer, yesterday. Save copy.
Cancel any FSA cards & get new one.
Do not co-mingle any money or have any type business transactions with them, period.

Thanks. For the charity, it's actually legitimate; it was granted tax-exempt status by the IRS. Nobody (much) gives to it, although here and there people will give small amounts, with a lot of finagling.
