You are obviously not poor so you may not understand how different it is for others who have much worse problems than you do. You go to a private school. You will get a good education even if it is not in the US. Be grateful for the things you do have instead of dwelling on what you do not have or what you have lost. You are young and hopefully healthy. Don't compare your situation with the situation of others who happen to have more money than you do.

Actually, btw, very few people live in the lap of luxury without a care in the world. There are many people in the world who don't have access to clean water or nutritious food.

One in three people in your county are in danger of poverty. You, otoh, are not living in poverty.

You have food to eat, a home, telephone service, clothing, etc.
That’s because this country really sucks. I really don’t like it here I’m grateful to have a British passport so I can at least get out of here. I know it sounds dramatic and I guess for a lot of people it’s fine here but I just don’t like it. Our politics are also messed up, hence why one in three people are living below the poverty line. In the places my friends & I hang around, it isn’t evident it looks like a typical suburban area, but beyond that it’s a mess. I’m grateful to have what I have, but it’s hard. And it’s so much less than what I used to have. And we don’t get to go on vacation either anymore. My mom suggested we go camping this summer. And she often complains about groceries being a big expense and it stresses her out.

It may be true that your country is terrible, but there is poverty in Britain as well.

Across Britain, the number of children living in poverty has jumped sharply in the past six years, a trend that critics blame in part on the Conservative-led government’s policy of austerity, the budget-slashing response to the 2008 financial crisis that is steadily reshaping British life.
Britain is cutting back benefits just as Greece did.
