It's past the equinox, and the world is going to get pretty dark by December. If you are buying winter clothing for kids, make sure it is light colored. Pedestrians get injured and killed every year because drivers can't see them. Don't let your kids wear dark clothes at night.
If you don't want to replace dark clothes, you can sew reflective tape onto jackets, sweats, and pants cuffs. Give drivers a chance to see your kid before they kill them.

I can't get over how many adults walk the streets after dark here in pavement-colored clothing.
They sell cute (various designs like cartoon characters) reflectors to hang on your children's clothes and backpacks everywhere here, must be sold elsewhere I'm sure, work better than light clothing as they reflect the car's lights have at them. Or reflective vests for younger kids (as older kids would probably not be down with wearing them)
