There have been recent studies that show the birth rate has declined and that does make sense. Some women and men don’t feel the need to have children to have a life worth living. It’s become more acceptable. However I feel like I constantly am seeing social media posts of people who have large families. Like don’t even bother posting pics of your kids anymore unless you have a brood of at least 3.
Is having big families become a thing again? Seems hard to understand how since many women don’t even have their first kid until 35 or over. If you started that late it’s less likely that you will end up with more than 2 kids unless you do IVf which a lot of people do these days I guess.
Personally I’m not a fan of the big family thing because well overpopulation. People don’t need to be having 4 or 5 kids these days even if they have the money. It’s bad for the planet and will take its toll on generations to come.
So am I the only one surrounded by people with 3 or more kids? Apparently having one or two kids just isn’t good enough.
Also I think some of the folks I’m seeing are people who had a kid or two with one person, that didn’t work out and they moved on and had more kids with someone else.

Most of the ones I know with more than three haven't figured out how to use birth control.
After I wrote this I actually went on Facebook and saw a family that just had their 5th. I know of two other families with 5. I have two I guess I’m a weirdo. I cannot imagine how people have 5 kids.
I am not a bitter infertile woman either. I had my two quickly and that was all I wanted. I want to have enough time for each of them and yes I do like to have some time (and money) for myself.
Some of these families are well off but I’m not sure how well off one could be in the Boston area with 4 or 5 kids these days.
In the end to each their own. Do people even think about how them having 5 kids might affect other people, like even their own families at parties etc?
Maybe I am just seeing it more in my area. I’ve been suprised by the number of women I know who’ve had a 3rd, 4th or 5th kid at an older age. I loved the newborn/baby stage, it was my favorite but it goes sooo fast. To me it was the easiest stage. I find it harder now. Homework help, help with everything basically and i will be doing this until they are in their 20’s probably.
You also never know what you are going to get when you have kids. Just because you have healthy babies does not mean they grow into healthy people. No one ever thinks they will have troubled kids though.
I am also maybe more anxious than others.
My moms friends daughter just had her 5th. She is 38. Apparently the kid was not planned but she had miscarried right before her so Um yeah that sounds planned to me. If you have 4 kids you’re obviously capable of getting pregnant and if you weren’t planning why not be on the pill. The family already seemed pretty stressed with 4 kids. Dad doesn’t help much with them and the girl expects a lot of help from her mom. If you’re in that situation with 4 kids I just don’t know why you’d have a 5th. Her kids are also a bit rowdy, always seems to be sick. I actually said to mom somewhat jokingly when I heard news of the 5th, they’re not coming to our parties anymore. I get nervous with my two kids going anywhere. You just never know what might happen. She told me on a recent flight they had her 4 yr old threw up the whole flight. I looked at her and said- you are my worst nightmare. No sympathy from me there.

took me 6 kids to realize pulling out isn't 100%...….. slow learner
