I can remember standing next to the refrigerator - it was Christmas - our son was in 8th grade.
He and I were the exact same height 5'5"

By the following June, he had just turned 14 and he was 6'3' almost overnight.

My husband is 6'2" almost 6'3" and always complained about his size 13 foot. Could never find shoes.

Well, it was so nice all of a sudden to have a nice tall son who ended up being a size 14 shoe. My husband can't argue that any more since it's a normal size now.

Our daughter is also tall 5'10' - I'm the shorty.

That’s a great story. Do you happen to remember what your son’s shoe size was back in eighth grade?

According to science and medicine that condition has no relevance to weight and height.

That is the average for 12 year old boys.

LOL. I'm still waiting too.

5'2" sounds perfectly reasonable for a kid in 7th grade.

By 6th grade I was 5 feet 5 inches tall and I was taller than most of my classmates. By graduation I was the short guy. Some guys had a growth spurt in high school.

The onset of growth varies a lot in boys. Very few actually gain height by 12. A very few do by 13, and some never really "sprout up" until 15 or 16. Then, there's that "get fat first, then grow up later" thing which is by no means unusual). And, he might be in a section with an inordinate number of kids who flunked or otherwise are a grade behind their age mates. I was. I had 14 yr olds in my 7th grade class and although I had a puberty at 11 1/2 (which is earlier than most) I was shorter than most until 11th grade. These things do not follow any set pattern. And in boys its always later than in girls (on average). He's getting to an age where all these things will vary even more in the next couple years. If he is concerned just reassure him.
