I don’t think anyone has mentioned, what message does it send to a teenager whose every move is being monitored? I think the message is that they are incompetent and incapable.
Furthermore, when these kids get into the workforce, they can't make decisions on their own, and always expect someone to be watching over their shoulder making sure they don't make a mistake or take a wrong turn. I'm not saying this is directly attributed to phone tracking, more so the general protection of kids from making mistakes in general.

You've got to learn to give them enough rope to explore and figure things out but not enough rope to hang themselves. Be prepared to yank them back on occasion, as needed.

Making mistakes and learning from them, or even figuring out ways to keep from getting into trouble, is how kids learn self reliance.
Yes, I had MySpace and Facebook as soon as they first came out when I found out my kids were on them.
