Wow! Doesn`t it though?
I don`t think alot of young folks realize just how much their life changes by adding children.

You are so right. On both points.

This is timely for me... I just talked to my best friend (childless), who is a bit down because she hasn't been doing anything. BUT... while talking she mentioned going to a concert and what seems like regular games nights with friends. And I'm thinking, I would LOVE to have done that much stuff in the last month!!!

I think I knew pretty well what I was in for! I used to have so much "me" time. I still have me time, but the definition has changed. Now running into Target to see how fast I can buy $100 worth of necessities on my lunch break is "me" time. The ten minutes in my car driving to work is "me" time. Seeing how fast I can take a shower is "me" time.

We took the babies to a neighborhood barbeque last weekend in the evening and I felt almost like the old me, except that I had a twin strapped to me and only had one beer. But we have so many neighbors with babies that I felt like one of the crowd.

No, I don't think I do. Probably never will.

Oh, a lot of older parents hadn't any idea how much their lives would change either. It's one of those things where you have no idea what it's like until you go through it. And, that's for the best, probably.

Right. It changes no matter what age. Not necessarily for the younger crowd.

LOL, you are so right. Nothing can prepare you for parenthood! No matter how many people you talk to or how many books you read, you just have no clue until the baby is born.

I have a friend who is in her 30s and childless. I was chatting with her one night a couple of years ago and she said "I really need to find some "me" time." I was confused, since she lives alone with her cat and has a normal 40-hour workweek. She said "between work and going to the gym and piano lessons and going out with friends, I just have no time to myself!" Uh, what??? LOL! I didn't even bother saying anything, I just said "yeah, that's rough," while thinking "wow, between potty training and cleaning and nursing and chasing kids and pediatrician appointments, I can barely pee by myself, but whatever."

I haven't done that in 3 years, it seems. Maybe in another 3 I'll get to shut the door without BANG BANG BANG, "Mommy, what are you doing?"
