We gave a silver dollar for the first tooth, because the first tooth was special, then fifty cents for each tooth after. Keep in mind that my kids are college age now, so I imagine it would be about double that now at least.

The first tooth was $5 and then $1 for each after that. I'm told that I am cheap too. But heck!!! The tooth fairy comes X2 here! LOL (twins)

I give a dollar per tooth. My kids don't know it's me and they get so excited... no one says anything negative about the dollar. If they did, they'd get squat for the rest.

Our tooth fairy also leaves traces of "fairy dust" (glitter) to add to the excitement!

I got little toys- often fairy themed (obviously wouldn't work if you had boys! :P). I'll never forget the little flower fairy toy I got for the first tooth... you planted a little seed in a fairy pot and a flower grew. I think it came with a little PollyPocket like doll too. I think my parents got me the gifts rather than a dollar or so because losing teeth freaked me out so much. *shudder* To this day, I still get cold chills thinking about the teeth coming out or feeling the empty socket. Ugggggggh.
